Description
Open topped Landrover tour of Rickham Farm
Rickham Farm, which extends over 400 acres, is situated east of the Salcombe Harbour entrance and has views extending from Prawle Point to Kingsbridge. It is being managed predominantly in agri-environment. and the tour is a chance to enjoy the views and learn more about farming to promote the environment and wildlife. James manages the farm with his wife Ann who until recently was a watch keeper at NCI Prawle Point. James has a background of agricultural economics, and was previously a lecturer in agricultural policy at Cirencester.. James is still involved with a Hampshire-based charity dedicated to helping people in southern England to achieve their potential in farming and rural enterprises.
James and Ann bought Rickham Farm in 2009 and converted it to organic arable. The farm is currently making a transition away from arable to various forms of pasture and wild flowers under the government’s Sustainable Farming Incentive scheme to promote environmental protection and wildlife.
The tour will be a Land Rover safari for up to five people with refreshments and arranged at a mutually agreeable time.
