This is a brand new 150m reel of 12mm polyester doublebraid sailing or climbing rope.

We don’t have the full details, but this appears to be quality doublebraid polyester line in white/red. The first meter or thereabouts has a little staining but otherwise this is a brand new 150m reel.

It was donated to us by local sailor John Keen who died recently. The donation came via Stephen Page.

Join a National Trust ranger for a guided tour of this important and stunning coastal farm.

Learn how the Trust and the tenants have been working hard to improve the value of the farm for wildlife and how they are working as a partner in South Devon National Landscape’s Life on the Edge project.

The walk is around 2-3 miles and will involve uneven footpaths. Bring wellies for the muddy bits and layers to keep you warm. Also bring snacks and drinks as necessary.

Wembury Bay has long been recognised for its amazing rocky shore environment. In fact, Wembury is often found on the list of the top rockpooling spots in the UK.

Our expert team will take you on a guided rockpool safari to meet and learn about some of Wembury’s most famous inhabitants, from crabs to starfish and everything in between.

This event is open to all ages, but all children must be accompanied by a paying adult. Please wear wellington boots or other suitable sturdy shoes which can get wet and please leave your rockpool nets at home, as we follow the Seashore Code and use our hands and buckets instead (tubs provided).

Please note, National Trust car parking charges apply at Wembury Beach car park. The beach car park can fill up very quickly on hot, sunny days so please leave plenty of time to park and aim to arrive at the Centre 10mins before the event starts.

Cancellation Policy – requested refunds will be issued up to 1 day before the event starts, minus the Eventbrite booking fee. If the event is cancelled by us due to poor weather, you will receive a full refund.

Important Accessibility Information

The event takes place on Wembury beach and will lead you ~200m over the rocky foreshore. There are steep unguarded edges along the coast. You should expect to be walking over slippery seaweed-covered rocks, sand, and other uneven ground. Please dress appropriately – be prepared for unpredictable weather and remember that rocks can be sharp so wearing thick-soled footwear with good grips is essential. There is accessible parking at the centre but no wheelchair access to the beach. There are accessible toilets at the start point but the group will be a 15-minute walk away from these during the event. Dogs are not allowed on the beach between 1st May to 30th September though assistance dogs are allowed all year round. However, the rocky terrain may not be safe for them.

We welcome attendees with an interest in finding out more about local marine life and are keen to learn or improve their identification and rockpooling skills.  Instruction is provided verbally by a group leader in English within an outdoor setting where there may be background noise (wind or rain). Printed copies of some information can be made available with advance notice. The event takes place in a popular public place but is not usually crowded once we start rockpooling. Flash photography may be used by staff and participants but is not usually noticeable in daylight. Noise cancelling ear muffs can only be used if the attendee has someone with them who is able to listen and interpret the instructions for them.
