The centre affords interest as well as shelter from foul weather for walkers and visitors. Displays show the history, development and functions of the station, ecology and geology of the area, marine and coastal flora and fauna.
The National Trust, Salcombe Lifeboat and Start Point Lighthouse are also highlighted. Maps and routes can be consulted and bottled water purchased while dogs soon find the water bowl provided. Visitors may be invited into the lookout at quiet times.
