Can you help?

Become a watchkeeper

Volunteers are encouraged to undertake an average of two or three watches per month. Each watch lasts four hours. No prior experience is necessary. Training entails three half day classroom sessions covering background and theory plus around ten supervised watches alongside experienced watchkeepers. All watchkeepers are also trained for the Short Range VHF Radio Certificate.

There is a monthly station meeting of around two hours where you can meet other watchkeepers. Meetings include a short session on station business followed by either a talk from a guest speaker or a training refresher session.

Although watchkeepers are unpaid volunteers and maintenance work on the lookout is largely carried out by our members, we still have substantial running costs to meet.
